Today’s video is a bit long, but stick with it.   The relationship between General Hospital’s Lucky and Elizabeth was one of the first ones I shipped.  I remember watching this episode back in 1999 and thinking that it was all so incredibly romantic.  These were two characters that had been through a lot together (Liz’s rape, Lucky finding out the truth about his parents’ marriage, homelessness) and when they finally got together as a couple it was wonderful (their first kiss was even written up in TV Guide). Unfortunately, it didn’t last very long–by the end of the year, Lucky was “dead,” kidnapped by Helena Cassadine and Cesar Faison to get back at his father, Luke.  Over the years, they stayed within each other’s orbits, but they never really got back to the way they were in this video (Guza wasn’t a big fan of Liz, preferring Sam, his mob princess, to her, placing Liz on the slutty/mentally unstable back burner–forgive my mini-rant; I’m still bitter about 2003-2011).

Romance novels have been a part of my life since I was 14 years old and one of my neighbors dropped off a laundry basket full of Harlequins. From that day on, my nose was always in a book. I started my first review site in 2013, but took some time off for personal issues in 2018.

  1. Me too. I just wish they would use them more often. Yesterday's show was so good because the majority of the people they focused on were vets: Mac, Felicia, Duke, Anna, Kevin, and Lucy. It was like stepping back in time.

Liz and Lucky were my favorite couple back then, and I'm glad you enjoyed the post.
