I’m currently reading the first book in Erica Ridley’s Rogues to Riches series, Lord of Chance, and the hero has a bit of a gambling problem. Let’s be honest and call a spade a spade: he’s got a gambling addiction. To me it sounds like he started gambling because he was broke, discovered a talent for it, and then lost everything, so now he continues to gamble in the hopes of getting it all back. Anyway, he has a habit of calling the heroine ‘Lady Fortune.’ Each time he does it, I hear Sinatra singing Luck Be a Lady and so I give you, today’s video.
Growing up in an Italian-American family, the Rat Pack was a BIG DEAL. Some might even say it was HUGE. When I was a kid, my aunt would play cassettes of their shows and my brother, cousin, and I knew all the worlds to many of their songs. Although this wasn’t one of my favorite songs — Guys and Dolls is not one of my go-to musicals — I couldn’t help thinking of it as I read. Of course, that meant having to find this song for the blog. I hope you enjoy it. 🙂
